Jaguar I-PACE Battery Repurposing
Teaming up with UK-based Off Grid Energy, Jaguar has created a zero-emission energy storage system (ESS) called gridtogo that utilizes one-and-a-half, second-life batteries from I-PACE prototype and engineering test vehicles.
The ESS has a capacity of 125 kilowatt-hours, which is enough to fully charge the performance electric SUV or even provide a week’s worth power a regular family home and is also self-sustaining via built-in Off Grid Energy-developed solar panels.
In addition, gridtogo is fitted with Level 2 EV charge connections, rated up to 2 kilowatt-hour AC to allow vehicles to plug in, and is currently available for commercial hire.
