Hyundai released its pricing for the all-new 2017 Ioniq on Monday, with a starting price of $24,299 for the Ionic hybrid and $35,649 for the Ioniq electric.
The Ioniq hybrid will be on sale across Canada, while the electric version will only be available where dealers have installed charging stations and where provincial governments offer purchase rebates. That includes Quebec, Ontario and British Columbia.
The third Ioniq version, the plug-in hybrid, will arrive in late 2017 and its price will be announced at a later date.
The Ioniq hybrid features a 1.6-litre gas engine paired with a 32 kW electric motor and 6-speed dual clutch transmission, a first for a hybrid vehicle.
The electric Ioniq has a 28 kWh battery that gives it a range of up to 200 kilometres on a full charge. It is powered by an 88 kW motor.
The hybrid comes in four trims, topping the scale at $31,749. The EV Ioniq has three trims, with the top one going for $41,849.
