At a recent event in downtown Toronto, Kia unveiled the all-new EV5, a compact electric SUV poised to make a significant impact as it becomes exclusive to the Canadian market in North America. Scheduled for its public debut at the Canadian International Auto Show in Toronto from February 14 to 23, 2025, the EV5 is anticipated to be available in dealerships by early 2026.

Drawing inspiration from Kia’s flagship EV9, the EV5 boasts a bold and structured exterior, featuring the brand’s signature ‘tiger face’ grille and a distinctive 3-dimensional star map lighting pattern. Inside, the EV5 emphasizes a minimalist yet luxurious design, incorporating soft-touch surfaces and nearly 30 inches of panoramic display for driver convenience. The cabin offers seating for five, providing ample shoulder width and legroom, and generous cargo capacity enhanced by flat-folding second-row seats and additional front trunk storage.
The EV5 will be available with two battery options: a standard range 60.3 kWh and an extended-range 81.4 kWh. Customers can choose between front-wheel drive and all-wheel drive configurations, catering to various driving preferences and conditions. Notably, the EV5 will feature the North American Charging Standard (NACS) port, providing access to an expanded network of DC fast charging outlets across Canada.

“In line with Kia’s commitment to being a mobility solutions provider, the company aims to continue to break down barriers to entry as the industry transitions to more electric vehicle ownership,” says David Sherrard, Director of Strategic Planning at Kia Canada. “Upon launch, EV5 will mark an important milestone as we introduce this vehicle as an affordable option, that will meet the needs of today’s modern consumer, in what is Canada’s most significant segment.”
The EV5’s exclusive availability in Canada emphasizes Kia’s strategic focus on markets with growing demand for electric vehicles. This model will not be offered in the United States, further highlighting the tailored approach Kia is taking for the Canadian market.
