Vancouver, BC — Vicarious was one of the first to get a close look at the Honda 0 SUV concept, an electric concept car that signals the beginning of a bit of a rebirth at Honda. Fresh off a somewhat aborted EV development relationship with General Motors (that did, admittedly, produce two cars for Honda Corp.), the brand is launching the 0 Series, which points to its efforts to be fully electrified by 2040 and carbon-neutral by 2050. We saw the 0 Saloon at the Consumer Electronics Show in 2024 and now its time for Honda 0 to enter the more competitive world of the electric crossover.

Having a similar footprint and similar interior space to the popular CR-V crossover, the 0 SUV (that’s the concept name; it will be getting an actual model name as we near release in mid-2026) is a sleek, futuristic looking thing that at once recalls the Hyundai Ioniq line, as well as the cutesy Honda e and if you really squint the…Ferrari 250 GTO Breadvan? Honda Canada VP of Business and Development Hayato Mori thinks that’s a bit of a stretch, but a fully-electric line of cars in this climate? Not a stretch at all.
“EV is here to stay,” he said. “It’s coming, and it is the future.”
To help usher in said future, Honda has developed an entirely new ENE EV platform and is adopting a “Thin, Light and Wise” strategy not just to the powertrain, but to every aspect of the 0 Series. ENE isn’t just a platform, but it speaks to everything surrounding the 0 SUV from its powertrain to its interior digs.

While there are no official claims as to range and power as of yet, Mori says that something in the range of 480 km (about 300 miles) is a starting point, but that there will likely be both single- and dual-motor versions of whatever the 0 SUV ends up being called, as well as different trims and range estimates. Charging will be done via and NACS connection and if you don’t want to be stuck using the brand-that-is-not-to-be-named network of NACS superchargers, have no fear; the Ionna NACS charging network – already being used by seven manufacturers in the US – will be making its way to Canada, likely by the time the production 0 SUV arrives.
With ENE speaking to more than just the powertrain, you can expect some in-depth tech advances as well. A glance inside the airy cockpit reveals an entirely digital dash (including digital wing mirror displays in either corner – those won’t make production in Canada, though they are legal in other markets) divided into displays for the driver, central infotainment and the front passenger as well as a digital rearview mirror. The doors on the concept all open electronically with a brush of the “door handles”, as does the rear hatch – confirmation, yet, on whether we’ll be seeing a frunk or no or if the concepts’ yoke-style steering wheel will make production.
What Mori did say will be coming is a host on on-board AI-driven features. Through use of Helm.Ai machine learning as well as elements developed for the Honda Asimo autonomous humanoid robot, the 0 SUV will recognize you as soon as you get in through facial recognition. Forget having to program various user profiles yourself; according to Mori, the 0 SUV learn what kind of music you listen to depending on time of day and – wait for it – your mood, as well as how you like the ambient lighting and so on.
It’s some crazy stuff, but it’s real and debuting on the upcoming Acura RSX EV, to be followed by the production version of the 0 SUV. Some wild times ahead for Honda, it would seem.
