Past meets the future in the Arash AF8 Launch Edition. The front of this sports car pays homage to a jet fighter, with the driver’s position moved forward on the chassis. It is said to be reminiscent of the original Farboud GT. The rear is flat, with the overall aerodynamics drawing on the design of another famous Arash sports car, the AF10. If ever there was a definition for what makes an exotic car a truly one-of-a-kind experience, the Arash AF8 Launch Edition may just be it.
Power comes in the form of a General Motors 7.0-litre V8. Matched to a 6-speed manual transmission, it delivers 550 horsepower at 6,500 rpm and 472 lb.-ft. of torque at 5,000 rpm. Acceleration from 0-100 km/h takes 3.6 seconds, while the Arash AF8 reaches a jet-screaming top speed of 322 km/h (200 mph).

Everything about the Arash AF8 is designed to showcase speed and fluidity of motion. A wide body gives the appearance of unparalleled road holding ability. Race cars are designed in a similar way and the AR8 builds on this premise. A large crease on the roofline improves airflow, while short rear haunches speak to the power that awaits your command. Large side air ducts insure the V8 engine has plenty or air to breathe.
Simple and to the point is the design anthem for the interior. A three-spoke steering wheel features leather and carbon fiber trim. Dials are round white on black and very easy to read at a glance. Titanium controls are used for the HVAC system, providing cool and warm touch points depending on the season. Each vehicle has its own machined metal plaque indicating the rarity of every new Arash AF8.
The Arash AF8 isn’t for everyone and that’s the point. A total of eight colour choices are available and only a limited number are produced on a yearly basis. How much will it cost? Reports say at least $230,000 US.
