The Cadillac XT6 was introduced as a 2020 model year and five years on, there is little in the way of changes.
Our tester was the 2025 XT6 Premium Luxury trim, sandwiched between the Luxury and Sport trims.
The starting price if $67,499, with the as-tested price totaling $88,869 after all options are added on.
Those came in the form of three packages: Platinum ($10,925), Technology ($2,705) and the Driving aid package ($2,275). There was also an extra $1,395 tacked on for the Crystal White exterior paint.
The Platinum group adds things like Maple Sugar Semi-Aniline Leather Seating with Chevron-Perforated inserts for all rows, a performance suspension, Super Cruise with driver assistance technology and night vision.
Powertrain: The XT6 has plenty of power from the 3.6-litre V6, delivered in a mostly smooth fashion. The 310 horsepower and 271 pound-feet of torque are moved through a nine-speed automatic transmission.
The all-wheel drive XT6 demonstrates a little sluggishness from the throttle at times, which does take away a little from the driving experience.
The estimated fuel economy numbers for the XT6 are 11.5 litres per 100 kilometres, with my average coming in at 13.6 L/100 km.
Exterior: There were no changes made to the exterior of the XT6 for 2025, which makes the design – while elegant and easy on the eyes – a little long in the tooth compared to some of the competitors.
It has a nice front fascia and clean lines all around, making this quite a handsome design. But some updates would help it keep up with some of the stiff competition it faces.
Interior: The three-row XT6 offers good space and an elegant interior, but once again feels as if it would benefit from some updating to keep up with its competitors in the segment.
The extremely quiet cabin is enhanced thanks to the platinum package of our tester with the Maple Sugar semi-aniline leather seating and chevron-perforated inserts, a nice change from the standard all-black cabin.
With three rows for passengers, even those in the rearmost row do get a decent amount of space. However, when you are using all three rows, the storage room available in the cargo area becomes quite restrictive.
Overall, the cabin is comfortable and very well appointed.
Infotainment: While many SUVs are gaining larger infotainment screens, the XT6 takes a different route with it’s 8.0” screen size. Though somewhat small, the actual interface and software for the system, the latest version from Cadillac, are both excellent. It comes with standard wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, as well as satellite radio, Wi-Fi hotspot and wireless device charging.
The Premium trim also comes standard with navigation.
Drive: Other than the aforementioned throttle issue, I was pleasantly surprised with the overall drove of the XT6.
The Platinum trim does come with some upgrades to the suspension, which definitely helps keep things smooth and comfortable for occupants.
Given its size, handling on the XT6 is surprisingly agile, but don’t expect attributes that are too sporty. It’s designed for cruising and upholding the ride and drive you expect from a Cadillac.
Conclusion: While it might not be the newest in the segment, the 2025 Cadillac XT6 offers plenty of elegance and the basic features customers are looking for wrapped up in a Cadillac design that deserves consideration.
