2025 Kia EV3
Following the launches of the sporty EV6 and flagship EV9, Kia is set to tackle the electrified compact SUV class next with the news of the upcoming EV3.
It’s essentially the EV9’s Mini-Me wearing similar vertical LED headlamps carved into the edges of the front bumper. Both have bulging, squared-off body panels and blocky wheel designs. Instead of the flat roofline found on its full-size sibling, however, the EV3’s roof slopes towards a hatchback-style tailgate. Inside, the living-space-like cabin has a neat centre console that serves as a combo sliding table and storage area large enough to accommodate a small backpack.
Two batteries are packaged — a 58.3-kilowatt-hour battery in the Standard model offering a total travel distance of 410 kilometres, and a higher-capacity 81.4-kilowatt-hour unit in the Long-Range variant boasting a maximum travel distance of up to 600 kilometres. The sole powertrain option is a front-mounted 201-horsepower/209 pound-feet electric motor.
2025 Toyota Crown Signia
Toyota is injecting some utility into the Crown badge with the introduction of the Signia.
The five-seat crossover-slash-wagon looks pretty sleek thanks to sliver signature LED lighting, a monochromatic grille and long, sweeping roofline. Coming in five different paint colours, there’s a single Limited trim for Canada packing dark grey metallic 21-inch seven-spoke alloy wheels, fixed glass panoramic roof, 11-speaker JBL stereo, all-wheel drive and more.
Propelling the Crown Signia is the same HEV system utilized by the Lexus RX 350h: a 2.5-litre four-cylinder engine and two electric motors outputting a combined 240 horsepower.
2025 Acura MDX
The Acura MDX receives a facelift for the 2025 model year showcasing a bolder front fascia and enhanced infotainment.
The Diamond Pentagon grille is now frameless and houses a fresh mesh pattern and revised air intakes for both the regular and Type-S versions. All MDXs receive an upgraded 12.3-inch touchscreen display running Google built-in software. Wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are supported. The previous touchpad is deleted in lieu of providing easier access to the wireless charging pad and increased centre console storage space. An optional premium Bang & Olufsen is being bundled for the first time.
Prices start at $50,900 CAD.
2024 Mercedes-Benz EQB 300 4MATIC
A new 300 entry is joining the zero emissions EQB crossover lineup, slotting in-between the 250+ and 350 in Canada.
Featuring a refreshed face with a black panel star pattern grille and a horizontal fibre-optic daytime running light strip, the vehicle also boasts standard 18-inch alloys, dual 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster and MBUX infotainment displays, touch-button-equipped leather steering wheel and more. Like the 350, buyers can add an available third row allowing for seating up to seven — a rarity in this segment.
Performance-wise, dual electric motors create 225 horsepower, 288 lb-ft of torque and all-wheel drive. Range is estimated at approximately 300 kilometres, and a charging from 0 to 80 per cent at Level 2 (9.6 kilowatts) will take six hours. Sales are expected to begin in the summer.
BMW XM Mystique Allure
In partnership with legendary supermodel Naomi Campbell and film score composer Hans Zimmer, BMW has created a special one-off take on the XM Label Red super SUV.
Inspired by Campbell’s favourite colour, the exterior is sprayed in a shimmering matte blue that changes from ultramarine to violet depending on the lighting resembling sequins. Nearly everything above the beltline is covered in a lush velvet one might see on a couture garment, sourced from Swiss manufacturer Jakob Schlaepfer who also supplies fashion houses including Dior and Chanel. The velvet theme continues in the interior as well covering most surfaces.
Even the BMW IconicSounds Electric, which is the soundtrack accompanying throttle input developed under the guidance of the aforementioned Hans Zimmer, is customized to capture the Campbell’s aura.
